Getting off my butt!

Well, yesterday was an eye opener.  Not sure if everyone knows that we are trying to sell our house.  (I know, I know, not the best market for selling) but, that is exactly what we are trying to do.  So, we were so fortunate (?) over the holidays that we did not show the house very often.  A few times, but, we were able to entertain and have family over and not get too hung up about keeping the house "perfect" for showing.  So, here it is, the middle of January and we've sort of let the place go a bit.  You know... the holidays are over and everyone gets to relax a bit and catch their breaths and chill.  And as mentioned in previous posts, to do some of the things "I" wanted to do, or at least try to.  SO,  yesterday after my honey and I went to the gym we came home and as we walked through the front door the phone rings.  It's our realtor saying there was someone that wanted to look at our house at 1:30 p.m.  (it was 11:30 when we got the call)!  As she was talking I looking at my living room and dinning room.  Seeing the little lap throws splayed out on the couch and chair.  All the books that we have been looking through and trying to read.  My knitting things on the side table and beside the couch and all the little instructional books that goes with my knitting stuff, and notebooks for the various committee meetings from church and all the newspapers we haven't read, laying around on the floor, tables, window seat etc., etc., etc. (We really should cancel the paper.  We just don't seem to have the time to read them anymore!)  And I was thinking perhaps we should just pass on this showing.  I was sweaty and tired (from exercising, and don't let anyone tell you about some "runners high" thing.  I've not experienced it AT ALL, EVER!) so I was tired and there was just TONS of things that needed to be done to make the house presentable and just looking at those two rooms was daunting enough with the new thought of  "OH MY GOSH!  THERE'S STILL THE WHOLE REST OF THE HOUSE THAT I HADN'T EVEN CONSIDERED!"  So I began to say to her, we're going to have to pass on this showing, when the image of the house I want to move into popped into my mind.  (I want that house sooooo bad!).   Well,  I choked back the words and I told her, "sure, no problem".  That's when my honey and I went into action and cleaned and put away and hid and tucked away and so on.  We managed to get everything done without ripping each other to shreds and packed the boys into the crate (cat) and into the car seat (dog) and drove away just in time.  Where did we go you ask?  Well, we went to the Saturn dealership because my honey had an appointment to get the car serviced at 2 p.m.  I had to sit there with my hair all matted down and looking like I tried to run a marathon and didn't make it because of near heart failure!  But, at least we had a warm place to hang out until the showing was done.

We haven't heard anything regarding the showing.  But the house looks really good and now I'm going to be on top of my game.  I will maintain and the next showing we'll be ready for!  So, having said that, I should perhaps get some laundry done...

Ya'll, have a wonderful day!

By the way...This is how our house looks in the spring and summer.  Cute, don't ya think?  If only the potential buyers could see it like this...  =-)

Your house is beautiful.. I have always wanted a house with that classic look.. I love my house too, just really small ... too much stuff, not enough space. There should definately be a craft room. Alas. Tell me you'll have a room for yarn in your new house!

Ya'll are just so nice! I love my house too but, like chellebelle it's gotten a tad bit too small. This was actually our 2nd choice for a house in this town but the 1st one got picked up a few days before our arrival to this town so... But, #1 house became available again so we just had to give it a second chance! Tomorrow we have two real estate agents showing our house so we'll be gone for most of the day. And Chellebelle, yes I'll have a craft room all to myself and enough space for ALL of my yarn and everything else! YIPPEE!! (if we get the house...)
