Too big...

So, I am finally getting to blogging again since my return. I left my honey at home for a few weeks (alone) so when we got back home... Well, let's just say, there were some chores I needed (felt compelled) to take care of. I'm not saying he was a slob or anything like that. But, those little things like dusting and vacuuming on a regular basis, well, it's difficult to do when you are working more hours than usual, outside the home. Poor guy was tired and still had to take care of feeding himself and the cat! As well as trying not to let the garden and potted plants die from lack of water! So.... I've managed to get the house back into shape, of sorts and found places to put all the new items from my parents (they gave me my grandmothers wedding kimono and my aunts wedding kimono and there are LOTS of pieces that go to those items that I have yet to figure out!).

I've also downloaded (uploaded?) photo's from my honey's camera and wanted to show you what i made while I was in WA. waiting for little monkey to show up. Now... don't laugh too hard!

This is a little baby, kimono style sweater that I actually started there and finished! Unfortunately... the little monkey wasn't so little! I followed the pattern exactly and our little monkey was too big from the git-go!

And this little hat... It was SO CUTE in the book! The little rim is supposed to be rolled up about a half an inch. But not on our little monkey! So, this poor little guy wasn't able to wear anything except the little booties that his old nana made for him! And I didn't even get a picture of him in those!

Ah well. Nana is going to have to work on sizing items better (I actually swatched this). Of course, I'm going to use the excuse that the little guy wasn't as little as he should have been. And these things were made before he was born.... So now the pressure is on to make something that he can actually wear (comfortably) for more than one minute! ;-)

In a few days (after I've made a few more doilies for my baby girl) I'll begin working on a sweater that is sized to fit a 2-T. Maybe the little monkey will be able to wear it in December! ;)

So, on that note, I'll leave you with one of my favorite photo's of our first born and his little monkey!

Ya'll have a great weekend and I'll talk to you soon!

you did a wonderful job on the Knitting!! and the monkeys, as they both come from you... (round about on the 2nd one but that's okay) May I suggest, as we are going towards winter to go for a 12 month size so that he can wear it this winter.. he won't get to 2T quite that soon!;) I also would love to see some pictures of those wedding Kimonos-- how wonderful!

Precious! If I ever tried to knit for my grandson, I'd have to try and plan for whatever size he'll be three or four years from now!

The things you made are amazing! You can't help that the little one wasn't so little!

I love, love, love the photo of your two guys! Weird to see that 12 year old face I met so long ago holding one of his own.
